Will and Dan represented Ashlee Morgan who was said to be Jonathan Arafiena’s “right hand man”. In short form, the defendants together, and with others, laundered the proceeds of what is commonly known as a ‘boiler room’ fraud.
The City of London Police investigation identified over 350 victims of the investment frauds, who together, deposited over £11.5 million in non-existent investments.
Would-be investors were provided with access to what they believed to be an online trading platform, where, they believed, they could see their investments grow. The online platforms were false, deliberately manipulated by fraudsters to make it appear as though an investment is yielding a profit.
The case was prosecuted by Specialist Prosecutors from the Serious Economic Organised Crime International Directorate (SEOCID).
The defendants were said to have been concerned in the transfer of criminal property through various bank accounts, before converting the proceeds by the purchase of crypto-currency, gold bullion, property or by supporting an extravagant and luxurious lifestyle.
Will and Dan were instructed by Namita Pawa of Hallinans Solicitors.
