Mountford Chambers Clerk

Salary up to £35,000 p/a 

Mountford Chambers is one of the longest established sets in the United Kingdom, specialising in all areas of criminal law but with a particular emphasis on serious crime, business crime, regulatory and public law.

Its barristers have a reputation for being assured and compelling advocates who provide forensic and rigorous advice and representation.

In 2021, Mountford Chambers underwent a significant rebranding exercise to reflect a modern, progressive barrister chambers in a post COVID legal environment.

Due to continued growth and expansion, we seek a candidate with criminal clerking experience to assist in the smooth running of chambers affairs to work with its young and friendly existing clerking team.

The candidates main roles and responsibilities are outlined below, but are not limited to: 

  1. Assisting existing clerks with day to day running of the diary and the long-term planning of members practices
  2. Billing publicly funded and private work (for both crown court and magistrates’ court)
  3. Agreeing fees on behalf of members for appropriate cases
  4. Dealing with email and telephone enquiries from chambers’ professional clients and members
  5. Liaising with courts and solicitors, including both oral and written correspondence dealing with moving cases, hearings and other requests when needed

The right candidate can expect a level of flexible working, including working from home. A salary of up to £35,000 p/a will be considered, along with generous annual leave and pension contributions.
