Judicial Review

Mountford Chambers is home to several expert barristers who represent claimants seeking a Judicial Review to challenge the lawfulness of a government decision. These decisions may have been made by a government department or body and, if the challenge is successful, can have wide-reaching societal impact.

Judicial reviews are increasingly being sought by individuals dissatisfied by decisions made by the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office, as well as other public authorities. Drawing on their considerable criminal law expertise, our barristers are highly skilled at analysing the evidence available in order to formulate robust legal arguments to challenge administrative decisions.

Members of Chambers have acted for claimants in a wide range of actions. Examples include actions against the police in respect of disclosure and barring and criminal records; against the armed forces in respect of records held; against HMRC in respect of VAT deregistration; against magistrates courts in respect of first instance decisions and in relation to professional discipline actions where there is Administrative Court oversight by way of appeal.

Separately, members of Chambers have considerable experience in advising on and acting in High Court appeals of extradition orders.
