Members of Mountford Chambers recognise that matters do not necessarily conclude with conviction, sentence or a ruling on the law.

Mountford Chambers are a national leader in all areas of criminal appellate work and members of chambers practice in all appellate tribunals. Barristers appear in the Court of Appeal daily and are frequently instructed in landmark cases. Notably, Mountford’s barristers regularly appear in the House of Lords and have been involved in significant cases in the Supreme Court, including R v Jogee [2016] UKSC 8, Gale v SOCA [2011] UKSC] and R v Maxwell [2010] UKSC 48.

Many of the barristers at Mountford Chambers have highly specialised areas of expertise and are routinely sought out to advise and appear in niche and unusual cases. It is not unusual for complex matters to be referred to Mountford Chambers for specialised appellate work after the conclusion of a trial. Several members of Chambers also have discrete appellate practices.
