The independent public statutory Inquiry has been established to gather a clear account of the implementation and failings of the Horizon IT system at the Post Office over its lifetime.
The Inquiry will gather relevant evidence from affected persons, previous and current subpostmasters and subpostmistresses, Post Office Ltd, UK Government Investment (UKGI), Fujitsu, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), amongst others. It will also consider whether Post Office Limited has learned the lessons and embedded the cultural change necessary from the findings in Mr Justice Fraser’s judgments and the impact on affected postmasters.
Edward Henry KC is representing five former sub postmasters and subpostmistresses, Tracy Felstead, Seema Misra, Janet Skinner, Nicki Arch and Lee Castleton.
Edward is leading Flora Page from 23es chambers and is instructed by Hodge Jones and Allen.
Opening statements from Core Participants’ legal representatives commenced on the 11th October 2022.
Edward Henry KC said, “Treat these people with dignity… a dignitarian approach, not a pragmatic approach… what is momentum if we set the wrong tone at the outset. I’m afraid I can’t use the analogy of a puppy as the Post Office is a far more sinister and malevolent animal.”
