Laura Paisley Appointed to UK Covid-19 Inquiry Legal Team

On Monday 20th June 2022, Inquiry Chair, Heather Hallett announced the appointment of Laura Paisley to its legal team.

Laura has been appointed as one of the 49 junior counsel who will support Hugo Keith KC, Lead Counsel to the Inquiry and Martin Smith, Solicitor to the Inquiry and will work closely with eleven KCs to lead the Inquiry’s investigations. Junior Counsel conduct legal research, analyse and review documents, identify evidence, draft materials and assist with the preparation of hearings.

Laura has developed an impressive criminal defence practice, and is regularly instructed in cases involving serious violence and sexual offences. She also accepts instructions in professional discipline and regulatory cases.

Speaking on her appointment, Laura said: “As one of the largest and most significant Inquiries to have been held in the UK, I am delighted to have been appointed to the Covid-19 Inquiry. The Inquiry will be key to learning lessons from the UK’s response to the pandemic and informing the government’s preparations for the future.”
