On Tuesday 7th December, the defendant was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, who was found dead at her home in July 2020. The defendant’s mother was also found guilty of assisting an offender and doing an act intended to pervert the course of justice.
The defendant stabbed his girlfriend 54 times with 2 knives after believing his girlfriend was cheating on him, they had only been in a relationship for 6 weeks. He weaved a web of deceit, including a pre-planned phone call, made after he knew his victim had died as a result of catastrophic injuries inflicted by the two knives and an attempt to destroy evidence. On Wednesday 8th December, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years and his mother was sentenced to three years.
