Zayd Ahmed secures unanimous acquittal for defendant charged with possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs after 4 day trial at the Central Criminal Court

22/04/2025

Zayd Ahmed represented the defendant, who was charged, along with another, with possession with intent to supply Class A and Class D drugs.

The Crown’s case was that the defendant was found in a property containing large quantities of drugs, weapons, cash, and phones with messages relating to the supply of drugs.

The Crown also attempted to introduce evidence of rap lyrics created by the defendant, which they suggested amounted to a confession to being a drug dealer. However, after a successful application under section 78, this evidence was excluded, as was a note found on the defendant’s phone which the prosecution described as a tick list.

Zayd was able to demonstrate flaws in the Crown’s case, particularly regarding DNA and phone attribution, and he cross-examined the officer in charge on investigative failures.

After a four-day trial, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on all counts.

Zayd was instructed by Shahid Khan and Ian John-Baptiste of Advice Wise Solicitors.
