An 18 year old charged with chasing a 42 year old man to his death has been cleared by a Judge at Maidstone Crown Court.
It was alleged that the deceased had jumped over a fence, to escape 4 teenagers who were threatening him, but then fell 70 feet into a disused quarry which was on the other side of the fence.
Chris Henley KC led defence submissions which identified a fundamental flaw in the chain of causation. Chris relied on a combination of telephone evidence, a toxicologist report and drone footage of the route. The prosecution then offered no evidence on a second charge. Chris was leading Joanna Hardy-Susskind of Red Lion Chambers, and was instructed by Louise Lamont of TSLaw.
