In March 2025, Sophie Evans was enrolled as an advocate of the Supreme Court of Saint Helena.
Her enrolment allows her to perform all the functions of a barrister or solicitor within the territories of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.
Sophie has visited St Helena on three occasions since June 2024, to defend two males accused of historic sexual offences. Her most recent visit, for the re-trial of one of the males, resulted in a unanimous jury verdict of not guilty.
St Helena is a small, remote British Overseas Territory. It is a volcanic tropical island located in the South Atlantic Ocean. The island is famous for being the place of exile for Napoleon from 1815 until his death in 1821, and for being the home of Jonathan the Tortoise, the oldest known living land animal.
