Following a five day trial at Hove Crown Court, Silas Lee’s client was acquitted of assault by penetration.
The Defendant was accused of assaulting a 16 year old girl in a park, while both were intoxicated. The Defendant was 17 years’ old at the time and the parties were not previously known to each other.
The defence case was that the complainant’s memories of the incident were false and that she had consented to the sexual activity. After 1 hour and 45 minutes, the jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict.
Silas was instructed by Jo Benham of Wannops LLP.
