Shekyena Marcelle-Brown successfully represented a registrant before the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee in proceedings spanning between 2024 and 2026. The registrant, a newly qualified dietitian, faced allegations of a lack of competence arising from poor clinical practice in 2022, with the majority of charges admitted at the outset of the hearing.
During the proceedings, Shekyena successfully opposed a hearsay application and advanced a submission of no case to answer in respect of several allegations, which was conceded by the HCPC. Following the conclusion of the substantive hearing, the Panel determined that the registrant’s fitness to practise was not impaired.
The outcome brings to an end almost four years of regulatory proceedings hanging over the registrant since 2022 and enables her to move forward with both her personal life and professional career. She is now able to continue practising without restriction.
Shekyena was instructed by Jo Kaucher of Blackfords LLP.
