Alejandra Tascon represented Registrant A before the Education Workforce Council’s Fitness to Practise Committee in proceedings involving allegations of dishonesty, lack of integrity, failure to disclose criminal sanctions to her employer, and unacceptable professional conduct.
The underlying matters arose from several shoplifting incidents, which resulted in a community disposal issued by South Wales Police and a requirement to complete a victim awareness course. The registrant subsequently failed to inform her employer of both the incidents and the disposal. The matter came to light only after police attended the educational establishment and notified the employer directly.
Although the Registrant initially made only partial admissions, she ultimately admitted all allegations during the course of the proceedings.
Following detailed and sustained submissions in mitigation and on sanction, Alejandra successfully persuaded the panel to impose a reprimand, securing the most lenient outcome available in circumstances involving findings of dishonesty and lack of integrity.
Alejandra was instructed by Michelle Stewart of Thompson Law.
