Alex has recently completed his role as a Trainee Legal Adviser based primarily at York Magistrates Court where he advised the lay bench on matters of sentencing, practice and procedure, and also assisted litigants in person.
Prior to this, Alex worked as a Court Presentation Officer with Thames Valley Police, acting as a prosecutor in police-led prosecutions, as well as presenting applications for Domestic Violence Protection Orders. As part of this role, he conducted cross-examinations, reviewed case bundles, and advised officers on evidential matters.
He joined Thames Valley Police from Cardiff, where he had served as a Crown Court Clerk since graduating from university. As a Crown Court Clerk, he sat in court and was responsible for ensuring compliance with proper procedure, maintaining accurate records of proceedings, and clerking the full range of Crown Court hearings, from serious criminal trials to appeals from the Magistrates Court.
Alex is undertaking his first-six of pupillage under the supervision of Abigail Penny.
