Mountford Chambers’ depth of experience in fraud and financial crime has led to our barristers undertaking substantial work before VAT and HMRC tribunals, the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber), and the key regulatory and disciplinary bodies governing the financial and accountancy professions.
Our clients include:
We act in cases involving allegations of professional misconduct, breaches of accounting standards, ethical failures, dishonesty, money laundering, tax evasion, and mis-selling of financial products. Our barristers have defended complex and reputationally sensitive investigations involving both civil and criminal exposure, and often advise at an early stage where regulatory breaches may trigger parallel proceedings or enforcement action.
Our barristers regularly appear before the Taxation Disciplinary Board (TDB), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
We advise on sanctions including prohibition notices and issues of ongoing compliance with FCA principles and Conduct of Business Sourcebook (COBS) obligations. Mountford barristers have also acted in ‘Skilled Person’ reviews under section 166 FSMA 2000 into investment suitability, mis-selling of financial products, and systemic governance failures.
Our barristers offer a cross-discipline view of financial regulation, with our experience in white-collar crime and professional discipline allowing us to deliver pragmatic, strategic, advice in the most challenging cases.
Mountford Chambers is home to a team of highly responsive, experienced and knowledgeable clerks.
