Mountford Chambers delivers a nationwide and international service to clients, who are assured quality advice, advocacy and representation at all levels.
Mountford Chambers represents both individuals and governing bodies in proceedings arising from the regulation of teachers, students and others working in the education sector.
Education professional disciplinary cases are invariably highly sensitive in nature and evoke strong emotions from the individuals involved. We have experience of advising on and acting in cases involving allegations of serious misconduct by teachers and education professionals in a variety of settings, from children’s homes to sixth form colleges and universities; before regulators including the Teaching Regulation Agency and the Education Workforce Council.
Our barristers have a strong working knowledge of the disciplinary rules and procedures that govern the teaching and education professions which enables them to deliver the very highest standard of service to our clients. They combine their knowledge and skill as advocates to strike the appropriate balance when it comes to presenting arguments based on the evidence of students who are often children, against that of the regulated professional. All our barristers are specially trained in the handling of vulnerable witnesses and are experience in dealing with vulnerable or child witnesses.
Mountford barristers are also experienced in advising and representing students at a university level, accused or academic or other serious misconduct. Our barristers are well-versed in university disciplinary procedures and are able to offer advice and experienced representation to students facing action by their university before, during, after and independent of criminal proceedings. Our barristers have acted in cases involving students facing a range of accusations, including violent and sexual crimes, dishonesty and plagiarism allegations, and anti-social behaviour.
Mountford Chambers is home to a team of highly responsive, experienced and knowledgeable clerks.
