Edward Henry KC Secures Acquittals for Two Cheshire Forest Hunt Directors

Edward Henry KC successfully represented two directors of Cheshire Forest Hunt Limited at Chester Magistrates’ Court, where animal welfare charges against both defendants were dismissed following a successful submission of no case to answer.

The District Judge found the prosecution evidence to be “weak, vague and inconsistent” and concluded that no tribunal, properly directed, could convict upon it. Both defendants were awarded their costs.

The charges, brought under section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006, arose from events in February 2025 when hounds following a laid trail deviated from their route. Neither defendant was present when the events occurred.
