20/08/2025

Stephanie Panchkowry represented a 48 year old defendant, who was alleged to have been concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, namely crack cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

There were significant damaging text messages found on the defendant’s phone which evidenced him supplying drugs and driving around another individual, ‘ACE’, to supply drugs.

The defence case was that the defendant was a victim of modern slavery, that his house had been cuckooed and that he had been threatened with severe violence. The defence instructed an expert to consider whether there were indicators of human trafficking for the purpose of criminal exploitation. Following lengthy discussions at court, the Crown were persuaded to review the matter again and offered no evidence on all 4 counts.

Stephanie was instructed by Karamjit Singh of Holborn Law.
