Chloe Birch’s client, who was 20 years old at the time and who had no previous convictions, was accused of three offences of rape of a 16-year-old in 2018. Despite investigation at the time, the case was not charged until 2025 and brought for trial this April 2026.
Through the use of Snapchat videos and messaging between the pair, Chloe was able to contradict the portrayal of the incidents put forward by the complainant over the last 8 years. During cross-examination, concessions were elicited as to the motivation and timing of the complaints.
After a four day trial, the jury were out for just over an hour deliberating before they returned unanimous not guilty verdicts.
Chloe was instructed by Clint Ambrose and Shyanne-Sarah Ennis of Cambrose Solicitors.
