Chloe’s client was the first of two defendants involved in a three-day trial for a variety of sexual offences.
After a full trial including lengthy and sensitive cross-examination of the complainant (an older child – who was a stranger to the defendant), Chloe’s client was acquitted of one count of rape, one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Following legal argument during the trial process, the Crown withdrew evidence in respect of two counts of sexual assault. Chloe’s client was sentenced for two other sexual offences for which, following mitigation, he received a 12 month Youth Rehabilitation Order, in circumstances where the Crown argued the case should be committed to the Crown Court for sentence given the likely appropriate punishment of more than 2 years’ custody.
Chloe was instructed by Paul Robinson of Goldkorns Solicitors.
