Ben Brown’s Client is Acquitted of Misconduct In Public Office while working as a Prison Officer after Trial at Hull Crown Court

16/12/2025

The Defendant was a Prison Officer who was alleged to have conducted Misconduct in a Public Office having engaged in an inappropriate and romantic relationship with a prison inmate.

Following detailed and meticulous preparation, Ben was able to undermine the chronology presented by the Crown and used the authority of R (on the application of Johnson) v Westminster Magistrates Court [2019] EWHC 1709 (Admin) to underpin the distinction between misconduct committed acting as, not simply whilst, a public official.

The Defendant was acquitted following a trial at Hull Crown Court before The Honorary Recorder of Hull and the East Riding.

Ben was instructed by Paul Robinson of Goldkorns Solicitors.
