Ben Brown secures Suspended Sentence Order for a Defendant involved in a Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs as part of Cleveland Police’s long-running Operation Spoonbill

22/03/2022

Operation Spoonbill investigated four gangs, based in Liverpool, Norton, Stockton, and Guisborough on Teesside that involved the smuggling of an estimated 500kg of cocaine with a street value of £17.25m into the UK, and in particular, the north-east of England.

Following lengthy submissions outlining the extensive delay in bringing the case to court, the Defendant’s vulnerabilities and role in the operation, the Judge was persuaded to take an exceptional course of action, moving away from the sentencing guidelines, and suspending the custodial sentence.

Ben was instructed by Trudi Burlton of PPG Criminal Law Ltd.
