Anthony James’ client was acquitted of rape following a six-day trial at Woolwich Crown Court.
The case was complicated by the late service of the entirety of the text communication between the complainant and defendant, served only one working day before trial. During cross-examination, Anthony made effective use of both the served and unused messages. He also successfully opposed the Crown’s application to adduce the defendant’s previous conviction for serious domestic violence.
Anthony was ably assisted throughout the trial by Vicky Payton of Holborn Law.
