The youth client was charged with two bladed article offences. Anjelica Smerin successfully advanced a defence under s.45 of the Modern Slavery Act, submitting that her client was a victim of child criminal exploitation having been groomed into a gang by older men.
Anjelica secured an acquittal on both offences following a day long trial in the Youth Court where her client gave lengthy evidence.
