02/05/2025

The youth client was charged with two bladed article offences.  Anjelica Smerin successfully advanced a defence under s.45 of the Modern Slavery Act, submitting that her client was a victim of child criminal exploitation having been groomed into a gang by older men.

Anjelica secured an acquittal on both offences following a day long trial in the Youth Court where her client gave lengthy evidence.

Anjelica was instructed by Shevani Manjdadria of Cambrose Solicitors.
